Kevin Dixon's talk differed from that advertised in the programme. Summary for SatNav technology has become ubiquitous but there is a lot of mis-understanding about how it works. This talk presents SatNav basics, Gedoesy basics and how SatNav can be augmented or improved for cave surface mapping. Examples and methodology are presented for the recent Mulu 2011 expedition and there is a brief discussion on recent technology that may have application to cave surveying especially lasers. Finally an example of the Shuttle Radar Terrain Model for Mulu within Survex and some laser scanning results from Mulu 2011
